About Sam Roddy:
Sam Roddy is an impressive young up-and-coming bladesmith who trained under an Arkansas native bladesmith legend, Keith Murr. Roddy has been hand building knives here in the Ozarks since 2018. In 2020, Roddy branched out on his own after building his first belt grinder and opening his own shop, Roddy Knives. Roddy now operates out of his personal shop in Huntsville, AR, about 30 minutes south of Nighthawk Custom. He proudly forges his own steel and hand builds the knife using the same philosophy as us, but as One Blade, One Bladesmith. His Damascus patterns are created by taking 1080 and 15N20 and alternating them in 30-35 layers. He then heats that metal up to 2,300-2,400 degrees and uses a 25-ton press to forge the steel together. Next, he manipulates the Damascus to produce some incredible patterns that can be seen throughout his beautiful work. We are proud to offer exclusive designed Roddy Knife models through Nighthawk Custom.
